BMW i4 Full In-Depth Review – Shot 100% on an Insta360 ONE X2
My name is derek reilly. Today we are with the bmw i4. Specifically the e drive 14, if youre subscribed to the channel. Todays video is in partnership with insta360, specifically the one x2, and the whole review is going to be filmed on it. So lets see if i can have everything all in one camera inside outside and all the different shots that i take. What were going to do is have a look at it. It is a fairly gray day here in dublin, but i still think this looks stunning in this brooklyn gray color. This is the i4 based on that joint platform, its a 4 series, grand coupe, a very similar also to the 3 series, and you may be mistaken to miss it on the road. How will you know the difference you will see down here? Youve got that closed off grill, and you will see elements of blue around about this closed off. Grille has that camera in the front of it has some sensors in there as well, and there is some active air cooling in underneath youll see more sensors down there as well.
This one has been specked up in ireland. You got the m sport, so youve got the e drive, 40 m youve got the e drive, 40 m sport and then youve got the e. Sorry, the i4 m50. There you go dez theres your wildlife shot in the camera. This one has the upgraded laser lights on it as well. Moving around down along the side. Let me just have a look at the front again and see if i definitely think here in the european market with that license plate built into it. It makes a big difference instead of those dual kidney grilles, but, like i said a while ago, you definitely get used to it. You also got some active air either side just to bring that air curtain around by the uh by the wheels speaking of wheels. They come in 17, 18s or 19s, and these are the specific m wheels with the 19s, with the dual colors with the red brake calipers, some nice glass black elements, youve got your m badge indicator built in with some glass black and a 360 camera down along The side then youve got a matte black kind of a skid bar underneath the handles themselves lift up, but they are aero and flush. Youve got that swooping roof line. Youve got the black out windows at the back and then theres. The psi profile on the rear profile got a lovely little color coded spoiler on this being a hatch, and it is electric youve got 470 liters of a boot or a trunk with some space in underneath, but because of the harman kardon upgrade not a lot of Space in there there is no frunk youve got a 40 20 40 split.
Some more storage down inside here youve got a 12 volt. Youve got some shopping bike, hooks theres a hot mech hook anyway, and then youve got some tie off points either side decent size. Boot and great this little personal shelf is comical and youve got the other side of it up top here pop it down. Youve got that blue badge that ring there on the back. Youve got the e drive 40 and youve got the i4 youve got that color coded very sleek shark venereal charging on ac. You have up to 11 kilowatts and on dc up to 200 kilowatts with the ac. If youre charging at home on a seven kilowatt wall box, you are looking at about 13 hours and on dc from 10 to 80. If you can find something that will give you 200 kilowatts, it will do it in 30 minutes but yeah overall. I think it looks great really good. Even this color comes in a couple of different colors theres, actually a lovely orange color as well and a green. So its great to see a variety of colors in a bush, this matte gray, i think, looks really nice and, depending on whether you go for the m or the m sport well dictate the choices that you have lets have a quick look inside on the door. Then you have your lock center. Locking youve got your memory presets for the electric seats, because these are with lumbar youve got the m sport trim, so you have the sill plate.
You also have that black leather with that blue stitch and again these are all options depending on what interior color go for so theres, a black on the m sport, theres, a black, a red leather and a cream leather. On the regular m. You also have a black a fabric option as well, but they seem to be the color palettes that they have black, be like leather or fabric and red or cream. Youve got the harman kardon tweeter and the door there right. Knee youve got your lighting system its on automatic at the moment, a little pocket in there. You can see those lovely seats with the m sport flash there on the seat belt as well and on the mat nice comfortable seats as well. Lets have a seat on the inside and lets see what we have no sunroof in this um lets, move the eevee review bottle and show you what it looks like without so this is the what is it called again: roll humber or a hump its the design That they have in again depending on what you want um and then the start button is down here now nothing starts kicking in there. You go so m sport steering wheel with a heat, a heated option left hand side. Is your driver assist and again? This has extras on this, so the price for the um i4 starts at 63.5 000 euros this one with the m sport and also all of the extras, its nearly 79 000 euros.
So it is well kitted out and on the left hand, side. Youve got your audio and your phone behind that then youve got your wipers on the right on the left. Youve got your indicators. As we mentioned, youve got your lights down in here, 12.3 inch driver in from a driver, cluster all digital and can be changed and then a 14.9 inch um – and this is the new driver – display the infotainment system, and this is the new. I drive same as the ix. This one also has a heads up display so im not sure if youre picking that up there, but its coming out from underneath it very responsive, has a wireless android, auto an apple carplay, decent maps underneath youve got a physical knob. Youve got your moving of track. Youve got your some shortcuts to your d. Misters front and rear climate is all built into the touch screen. So that may be a negative for some people. Then youve got your wireless charging pads, which is also an option and your usb type a and a 12 volt and youve got your cup holder. Water, bottle, holder, youve, got your rotary dial here and that moves up on top and youve got media sams. All bmws media telephone home map and nav and your back options as well. Your electronic handbrake, its got auto hold which holes on it youve got your three driving levels: sport, confident, eco pro and then youve got your reversing esg off your cameras and your parking assists.
It has d mode is adaptive and you can see that on the dash it says adaptive and then, when i bring it back and bring it over to b, then you can change the regen levels on it up or down. We bring it back to adaptive and then bring it back up to perk to change on the gear selector. You have to press this button on the side first and then bring it back, and then the reversing camera youve got your um, your whats, exactly behind you and then your 360, and you can change where that is as to what youre looking at exactly so. I can go off to the side and then we can spin that around very good, well, its automatic. You can set it up as to theres a reversal assistant and a park assistant as well again. Optional extras put it into park decent sized glove box. Youve got the specifications there. Some of the elements that are on this youve got the visibility pack, which we talked about. The laser assist youve got your technology pack, which is your driving assistance, your harman kardon system and wireless charging et cetera. Then youve got your comfort pack, which is your heated seat and your comfort access, which is the keyless entry, keyless start and the memory seats. Then you also have the m sport pro pack, which is the adaptive suspension. The sport steering the model specific design animals. The 19 inch y spoke bicolor jet black allies.
The m sport break with red calipers um raw himbical is the name of that interior design. This peep this thing here, um lets go back to climate um. What else we got going on? We have the speedometer in kilometers per hour, which is a standard m sport, leather steering wheel and the charging cable standard options. Then you get a tire repair kit. You get the alarm included. Folding wing mirrors uh with auto dimms, lumbar support, backrests front heated, seats, etcetera, etcetera. So all the stuff is in there, so decent sized glove box youve got the thai support in underneath here then youve got a usb type c, just based in there lovely seats and youve got that m sport stitch and we talked about no um sunroof in this Model, and so it is a fairly dark interior. Now, when i drove the m50 in munich – and we talked about at the start of the review, i felt that the give it a fighting chance that the rear seat was a bit tight for me and because its based on the three and four series platform it Has still has that transmission tunnel, so lets have a look to see what weve got going on here. Door youve got those divided up door, pockets wing mirror down hammering card and tweeter and speaker yeah. Not a lot of high support. Youve got some tri zone system going on back here, so youve got your automatic up and down, and you also have two usb type c.
So youve got that transmission. Now it says its for five people, but itll be five small people or three small people in the back are one small and too big. Uh youve got some cut outs in the back of the seats. Youve got your wire or your magazine holder and so with the knees up. Youre gon na get maybe one centimeter im six foot, two 188 centi centimeters tall height wise with that roof sloping roof line im starting to hit the headliner, not bad. If it was two people in the back, yeah absolutely youd survive, but that high support would be great, all doors are frameless, then in the back. You have your this isnt, a ski hatch, because the whole thing comes down or so, and then you have your drinks holders which are covered good luck again, um, so yeah. Let me set up the camera on the windscreen and well check it out for a drive. Whats it like driving the bmw, i4 e drive 40 beautiful, especially with this adaptive suspension, but i i think this is the sweet spot for bmw with regards to. I dont think you not need to go the m50 now i know its a bit more expensive than a tesla model 3, but youre getting a lot more. In my opinion, quality fit and finish knobs and buttons, and the more of a traditional style as much as its this idrive is starting to go more modern with the same kind of curved console as it is in the ix and, as i mentioned before, ive reviewed That and ive reviewed the m50.

Or what else are you thinking about going for within this range battery, wise its coming in at just over 80 kilowatt hour of a battery? I think its 80.7 and then range bmw are claiming 590ish eb database and what ive been getting this week is around 450 to 470ish, very, very capable and a large battery. You would hope, would equal a larger range and thats what youre getting here its, not an suv, so its a bit lower down its more aerodynamic, its still a large battery but yeah its handling it well and it seems to be efficient with regards to how its Driving didnt do it close to costners. Yes, i may get it in the future and do a longer journey in it, but around the city around the m50 um its been very capable this adaptive suspension is lovely really like it. Brake horsepower is 335 about 340 ps and 430 newton meters of torque. So once you stick this thing into sport, like thats, just comfort, no, no problem, no problemo yeah! I like it. I like it a lot, but i have it over tesla model. 3. If i was the choice of the two, i probably would go for this one if youre a tesla owner or tesla fan person down in the comments, you know what to do.
Obviously, with the bells and whistles here in ireland, this ones at nearly 79 000 euros. So thats a lot of change, so youre up against tesla model 3 performance bush. As i say you probably dont you, i think i dont think you need the performance element of it, so youre paying for the the m elements of this, the styling etc. Weve talked about charging, weve talked about range, weve talked about the color options. Price yeah, the driving is loaded up. Steering wheel is good size that adaptive suspension is amazing, really really comfortable and it just grips the road it has that bmw dynamic and its not too hard on the suspension, wise thats in comfort mode sticking to sport. The steering wheel tightens up Music. What i like about the sport mode in it, it increases the volume of that artificial, sound that hands zimmer sound, so hopefully itll pick it up on this Music, very good, bmw, very good Music.
