So lets begin a couple of years ago, it seemed like tesla would take over the affordable end of the eevee market in the same way that it had done with other areas of electrification. But it looks like the much anticipated 25 000 tesla has been put on. The back burner for now, instead, it was clear that china was likely to be the country that drove down the cost of getting electricity. It was unclear which brand would lead the way it looks like. The answer is mg. The mg brand is well known in britain. It is one of the oldest cars in the uk. It was made in the 1920s outside of the uk. Mg is known for making cute open top sports cars in the 1960s and 1970s that were very british, but over the last hundred years it has also been on a wider range of vehicles, the time just before the current generation, when it was part of british leyland And then failed mg rover was probably its least successful. During this time. Most mg cars were family cars, not flashy sports cars. When mg rover went bankrupt in 2005, the chinese company nanjing automotive bought the companys factory and brand, and in 2007 saic motor bought nanjing automotive mg continued to put together cars in the uk, but that stopped in 2016 and now all mg cars are made in china.

But that doesnt mean that they are boring. Mg is still not making stylish convertibles, but it is bullish on electric vehicles and sees them as a way to make the brand a world leader again. Teslas model y is swiftly becoming the companys most popular vehicle. It sold approximately 10 000 units in 2020, but that figure increased to almost 160 000 units in 2021, but tesla y has a new direct competitor. The new mg4 ev, which is set to be released in the last quarter of 2022.. So lets take a look at what you may expect, especially if you havent been keeping up with all the hype about this new model y and the new mg4. When a car is launched, you might expect a surge in sales. Data tesla has already sold over 53 000 models in the second quarter of 2022. The model y appears to be more similar to the veteran model x, suv due to its size and doors. It actually shares the same third generation platform as the model 3. teslas model y is a more affordable version of the model x and a roomier version of the model 3 with seven seaters. It lies somewhere in the middle in terms of affordability and performance. The model y was the first tesla model to use a heat pump instead of electric resistance for interior cabin heating and battery reconditioning. The heat pump, along with other improvements like chrome, delete trim, has since been implemented into teslas other models, while mg4 electric is a new electric vehicle for the european market.

The mg4 electric is a rebranded version of the mg mulan, which was released in china earlier this month. The mg4 appears to be based on the first generation nissan leaf, which lacks a front grille. However, it also inherits mg5s family design features. The grill is completely absent. On the mg4 and in its stead is a crisp curved design that is rather attractive, led projectors and six tripe pattern. Drls are added to the headlights. The lower section of the bumper is inspired by the mg5, with strong cuts increases that will undoubtedly appeal to the target group. The side profile is also appealing and the lower portion of the doors is coated in thick plastic. The all new mg4 electric crossover, the rear element designs, are reminiscent of toyotas rally, spec sporty hatchback gr yaris, particularly with led tail lights and the branding dividing the two extended tail light sections. Other notable design aspects include side windows that appear to flow into the rear. Windscreen and a dynamic rear, split spoiler that perfectly fits into the top running board and the a pillars. This gives the appearance that the spoilers are enveloping the roof, the all new mg4 electric crossover on the inside, though it exudes minimalism, while remaining faithful to current eb trends. However, it is not at teslas level of minimalism, which is a good thing, its quite aggravating, especially on the road, because that single screen controls more than 90 percent of a teslas functionality.

Now lets take a look at the performance specs of both evs, the mg4 electric is the first mg model to be built on seic motors, new modular scalable platform, which is a flexible architecture for pure electric vehicles. It is a rear wheel, drive compact hatchback that promises optimal driving pleasure with a 50 50 weight distribution. It is eighty seven 4287 long, one thousand eight hundred thirty five millimeters wide, and only one thousand five hundred four millimeters tall mg says that the five door hatchback has a comfortable roomy interior that can fit a family of five. The tesla model y is available in two dual motors: awd variants: long range and performance. Both trims are powered by a 75 kilowatt hour battery pack. The long range model y can go 326 miles on a single charge and attain a top speed of 135 miles per hour, all while accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Teslas performance model y has a shorter epa range of 303 miles, but a top speed of 155 miles per hour and 0 60 mph time in 3.5 seconds. There have recently been speculations of a 400 mile model y after tesla applied for new versions of the ev. With the chinese government, those rumors, however, have been greatly overblown, while the mg4 has a low height of a car, which is made possible by its very flat battery, with a height of only 110 millimeters. Its the thinnest battery that saic motor has ever made and may be the thinnest in its class as well.

The so called one pack battery has cells that are laid out horizontally. It is said to be better than other batteries in its class in terms of space weight and safety. The battery will initially be available in 51, kwh and 64 kwh variants with wltp driving ranges of 217 miles and 280 miles, respectively, a smaller battery powers, an electric motor with 125 kw and the larger battery powers, a motor with 150 kw. Both motors drive the back wheels, the more powerful addition has a top speed of 100 miles per hour and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in less than eight seconds. Mg has stated that it intends to produce several iterations of the mg4 electric in the future, including one with an all wheel. Drive talking about tesla offers a standard range rwd variant of the model y on its website configurator in january 2021.. This single motor variant has a range of 244 miles, a top speed of 135 miles per hour and a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.3 seconds. The standard range model y, however, vanished almost as swiftly as it arose later. Electrek claimed that this standard range model y will be available as an off menu offering for customers who inquired directly with tesla. This was because elon musk was naturally dissatisfied with its range. The rwd model wise future remains murky and uncertain, despite receiving an official epa rating. As one of the worlds most efficient evs, the mg4 electric is currently going through a final 74 500 mile endurance test in europe.

The test is being done in a variety of conditions, and the car should be available there in the fourth quarter of 2022., but how the chinese built mg4 is set to rock europe. Chinese automobiles have been making steady progress in competitive areas such as europe and australia. With its new electric tang suv, byd just began to make significant strides in norway last year. Saic chinas largest automobile manufacturer, has also had success in scandinavia, with mg4. Electric seic may now have an opportunity to develop further on the continent. Last week, the first batch of mg4 evs made in china left the port of haitang in shanghai on a roro ship to europe. According to saic, europe will be its first export market to reach 100 000 units each year. Without a doubt, mg4 electric will help achieve that goal. The mg4 electric will be sold in germany, france, italy, spain, norway, sweden, denmark, belgium, luxembourg, the netherlands and the united kingdom.
